Next Hub meeting: Thursday 15 May 2025, 7pm — online via Zoom

Container Growing Workshop

A hands-on morning for anyone with a balcony, windowsill, or tiny yard. You don't need a garden to grow your own food.

Container growing is the easiest way into food growing for most Londoners. A few well-chosen pots can feed you herbs, salads, tomatoes and chillies all summer — and this morning is everything you need to get started.

What you'll learn

  • Container choices — what works, what doesn't, and what you can use that you already own
  • Soil & compost — getting the most out of small spaces
  • Seeds vs seedlings — which is right for you and your time
  • Watering & feeding — simple weekly routines that actually work

What you'll take home

  • One pot with a planted seedling — tomato, chilli or herb (your pick)
  • A packet of seeds (your choice)
  • A printable care guide so you remember what to do next

After the workshop (1pm – 2pm)

Stay on if you can — it's the best bit:

  • Community lunch — bring something to share, or just bring yourself
  • Garden tour — see Acton Community Garden's no-dig beds
