🌿 Transition Town Ilford – London Hub Highlights
🌳 Forest Garden (Valentines Park)
A thriving permaculture space created and cared for by volunteers. A space to grow food in harmony with nature, support biodiversity and climate resilience, rest, play, learn and create. The Forest Garden is our outdoor community centre well used by schools and scout groups.
🥕 Growing food, growing friends
We encourage people in Ilford to start growing food in containers in their front garden / space — and also to make friends with their neighbours through the connections they make.
🪡 Repair Café
We have a diverse team of volunteers who love repairing things and helping to stop landfill. Alternate Saturdays in our local library. We mend household electric items, all sorts of sewing repairs — including an amazing number of zips mended on rucksacks and coats — and jewellery.
⚡ Energy Café
We also run an Energy Café alongside the Repair Café — offering an informal, friendly way to give energy saving advice and info about grants available.
🤝 We are ...
We've been around since 2014. Our projects and events are run by a fabulous team of volunteers from all walks of life and backgrounds. Over 50 active volunteers and lots more people helping out. How we work together — and having fun — is as important as the projects.
We also organise other events such as eco-streets markets, food festivals and plastic free Ilford.
🌟 Our Vision
Ilford is a place where everyone works together through cooperation, caring and mutual support for the common good and that of our Planet — and is a town that recognises the threat of climate change and is working together on solutions.
